JUST FOR CLARIFICATION: I am getting sick of all the people who think I am talking about my own head or the heads of others. The image is titled from Kicen's point of view, who, infact, has a demon quite literally tucked in his head.
Geehee, this was fun... It's been a horribly long time since I put any real heart into a piece.
LONG COMMENT AHEAD
This is my first lineless artwork. Before that I always had to have lineart before I continue on with a picture. Huge handicap for me. Without lines I get lost and end up not finishing the pic.
For this at first I used lines. Or rather, I put the sketch as the topmost layer, then colored beneath it. The lines weren't perfect, so that drove me crazy. XD
Then I tried blocking in shapes, which wasn't as scary as I thought it'd be. I get a little OCD when it comes to painting like this. Everything has to be SMOOTH. It's cool how some can pull it off with messy brush strokes, but me... I panic.
But as you can see, I managed. Lots of trial and error, especially in the hair. I did the hair three times. First attempt, my computer did that thing where it turned off on its own, so all progress on the hair was lost. Second time, it had too much volume, so I started over for a third try and am somewhat satisfied with it now.
The face... that's a random mishmash because I hadn't really planned out that area. XD
I am very happy with the midsection, though. It's my favorite part. XD I was watching The Fly and The Brood while working on that area and you can see some of the influence.
The background is very simple. I used brushes by *Tackybrush for the cracks 'cuz I was getting impatient and lazy. If I went by the original concept, you'd have someone's small bathroom, with bright lighting. Not a good setting. One day I will learn to do backgrounds... one day. Not now.
But who cares about all that stuff? You just wanna know what the hell that thing is, right? It used to be an eyeball (Kicen's eye; see my journal CSS or here and here for more details) , and is currently mutating into a demon-thing called Wariun. In his complete form he looks very human, save for the purple skin and hair, teeth, and nasty open cuts all over his body.
There's a short story to go with this picture, but I daren't post it for fear of being made fun of for my writing skills.
Well, well, I hope this didn't come out too dark. If it is, adjust your monitor. From several tests I've found that mine is at the right setting for distinguishing colors, so it's your problem, not mine.
Okay, I talk to much.
Have fun, comment, offer suggestions, and don't steal. I made the watermark lighter than usual so you could see the detail, but that still doesn't mean you get to jack my shit.
